Hints and Tips

SURFACE PREPARATION

Important – Preparation is the most important step when using Berger Jet Dry! Proper surface preparation is critical to a great long-lasting finish.

Carefully follow all detailed instructions on the label before starting your job.

NEW CONCRETE

Allow new concrete surfaces to cure for at least four weeks before painting with Water based Jet Dry AquaTread products and 12 weeks before painting with solvent based Jet Dry products.

PREVIOUSLY PAINTED CONCRETE

Jet Dry can be applied directly onto previously painted concrete surfaces. Follow instructions on label to ensure the previously painted surface is in a sound condition and can be painted over.

WHERE NOT TO USE

Do not use Jet Dry product on stencilled concrete, patterned sealed concrete, sloping driveways or walkways, heavily stained or badly worn traffic areas impregnated with rubber, plastic or leather. Also note – some smooth trowelled or glossy concrete surfaces that cannot be properly prepared (as specified on labels) may not be suitable for Berger Jet Dry top coats.

APPLICATION INFORMATION

Never put too much paint on at once. Two coats at the coverage level recommended on the label is better than one thick coat.

Work in small sections of 1-2 square metres at a time.

Allow longer drying times (possibly double specified times) in cooler or humid climates.

Light stains such as car oil and grease should be removed using commercial stain removers prior to painting.

Boxing products, or combining more than one can of paint together, is required if more than one can is being used on a job. This ensures consistency of colour throughout the application process.

Use Berger Jet Dry True Grip to assist with slip resistance – follow instructions on True Grip container.
